A workshop work order groups the items of repair or servicing work to be carried out, most often against a container released from a Container Depot repair estimate.
Before you start
Workshop is not governed by permission groups. Any member of an organization with the Workshop module enabled can open the Work Orders list and any individual work order's profile.
A work order is normally created from an approved repair estimate — see Create a workshop work order in the Container Depot guide. There is currently no way to create a standalone work order from the Workshop module itself.
The Work Orders list
Open Workshop > Work Orders.
| Column | Notes |
|---|---|
| ID | The work order's reference number. Links to its profile. |
| Name | The work order's name — for a container-originated work order, this is the container number. |
| Date | The work order's date. |
| Status | The work order's status. |
Sort defaults to the ID column, descending. There is no filter beyond the list's own search box.
The toolbar shows a Create icon, but see Current limitations below — selecting it does not currently open a working page.
The work order profile
Opening a work order shows its Name, Date, Status, Completed at, and Memo (if set), followed by an Items table listing each item's Item name, Qty, Qty labour, and whether it's Completed.
The profile is read-only — there are no action buttons or links on this page for recording material usage or closing the work order.
Current limitations
- Work orders cannot currently be created from the Workshop module's own screens. The toolbar's Create icon is shown on the Work Orders list, but selecting it opens a broken page. Work orders arrive from the Container Depot repair-estimate release to the workshop instead.
- There is currently no way to record material usage against a work order's items from the OCTO Ops user interface.
- There is currently no way to close a work order from the OCTO Ops user interface.
- There is no edit screen for a work order — every field shown on its profile is set when the work order is created.
