Human Resources

Track employee time sheets, employees, and leave requests and allocation.

On this page 4

Human Resources tracks employee clock records (time sheets), a read-only list of employees, and leave management — leave types, requests, approvals, and allocation.

What you can do

  • See your own clock records. See My Time Sheets.
  • Look up your organization's employees. See Employees.
  • See every employee's clock records. See Time Sheets.
  • Set up leave types and categories, submit and approve leave requests, and allocate leave. See Leave Management.

Departments and other HR reference lists

Two other reference lists support Human Resources, reached from the Human Resources area even though they aren't full submodules of their own:

  • Departments has its own list, with Name and an edit-icon column. Select the toolbar's Create icon to add one — enter a Name (required), optionally a Parent department (for a simple one-level hierarchy), and a Description, then select Create department. A toast confirms "Department created successfully". Open a department's edit icon to change its Name or Description — Parent department can't be changed once the department is created.
  • Employment types and Employee categories are shown as two read-only lists (just a Name column each). Neither has a create or edit screen in this version.

Access and permissions

You need a signed-in OCTO Ops account with a verified email address, an active membership in the selected organization, and the Human Resources module enabled for that organization.

Human Resources is not governed by permission groups. Any member of an organization with the Human Resources module enabled can open and use every working Human Resources screen. There is no separate View, Create, Edit, or Delete permission for Human Resources, and no distinction between your own records and everyone else's.

Current limitations

  • My Profile appears in the navigation but has no screens behind it in this version. See My Profile.
  • Job Vacancies and Candidates appear in the navigation but have no screens behind them in this version. See Job Vacancies and Candidates.
  • There is no button or link anywhere in OCTO Ops to clock in or clock out. See My Time Sheets.
  • Employees is a read-only list — there is no create, show, or edit screen for an employee record. See Employees.
  • Employment types and Employee categories are read-only lists with no create or edit screen.
