Configuration rules

Require or exclude combinations of products and categories on a quotation.

On this page 2

A configuration rule enforces a relationship between two products or categories on a quotation:

  • Dependency — if the subject is on the quotation, the target must be too. When the target is a category, any one product from that category satisfies it.
  • Exclusion — if the subject is on the quotation, the target must not be.

A rule can reference either a specific product or a whole category on each side.

Create a rule

  1. Go to Settings > Module settings > Sales > Configuration rules.
  2. Select New rule.
  3. Choose the Type (Dependency or Exclusion).
  4. Choose the Subject — a product or a category.
  5. Choose the Target — a product or a category.
  6. Select Create rule.
Note

Configuration rules are managed by team admins only.

How enforcement works

A quotation that violates an active rule can still be freely drafted and saved. The check only runs when you select Issue — if the quotation violates a rule (or breaches the configured margin floor), issuing is blocked and needs sign-off from another team member. See Quotations for how approval works.
