OCTO Ops Help User guides and product documentation

Settings

Find your organization's shared configuration screens and your own personal preferences, and see who can open each one.

On this page 3

Settings holds your organization's shared configuration — the screens every member of your team works from. Most pages here are organization-wide: change one and it applies to everyone. Preferences is the exception: it holds settings for just you, such as your own personal date format (see Module settings for where that's used as a fallback for other members).

Who can open what

Every page under Settings needs a signed-in account with an active membership in your organization. Beyond that:

  • Preferences is personal — anyone can open and change their own.
  • Permissions is for Owners and Admins only.
  • Module settings is open to any active member for most of its screens. Two exceptions: the Asset Registry export needs the same View permission for Asset Registry that governs the Asset Management module, and Sales pricing — along with Price books, Bundles, Configuration rules and Guided selling — is for Owners and Admins only.
  • The other pages under Settings — Organization settings, Users, Templates, Fields, Integrations, Implementation, and Reconciliations — each state on their own page who can open them.

Settings screens are not governed by permission groups, other than the Asset Registry export noted above.

What you can do

  • Preferences — your own personal display and format settings.
  • Organization settings — your organization's own account-level settings.
  • Users — the people who belong to your organization.
  • Templates — templates used across OCTO Ops.
  • Fields — custom fields.
  • Integrations — connections to outside systems.
  • Implementation — implementation-related settings.
  • Reconciliations — reconciliation-related settings.
  • Permissions — permission groups: who's in them and what each one can do.
  • Module settings — System, Categories, Finance, HR, Marketing, Stores, 3PL, Reports, Asset Management and Sales configuration.

Current limitations

  • There's no screen anywhere in Settings to turn individual OCTO Ops modules on or off for your organization.
  • Most Module settings screens show no confirmation message when you save — the page just reloads with your values kept. Categories is the exception.
  • There's no control to transfer ownership of your organization to another member.
  • Of the systems Integrations supports, only Magento currently has a working connection form.
