A customer contract records an agreement with a customer — its name, value, risk rating, and start and end dates.
Before you start
You need a signed-in OCTO Ops account with a verified email address, an active membership in the organization, and the Contracts module enabled. Customer Contracts is not governed by permission groups — any member with the module enabled can create and view contracts.
Add the customer first, under Customers, if it doesn't already exist.
The Customer Contracts list
Open Contracts > Customer Contracts from the main navigation.
| Column | Shows |
|---|---|
| ID | The contract's ID. |
| Name | The name you gave the contract. Links to the contract's record. |
| Customer | The customer the contract is with. |
| Value | The contract's value, right-aligned. |
| End date | When the contract ends. |
The list is sorted by ID, descending. Use the create icon in the toolbar to register a new contract. There are no filters and no export buttons.
Register a customer contract
- Open Contracts > Customer Contracts.
- Select the create icon.
- Fill in the fields below.
- Select Save.
| Field | Required | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Contract ID | No | Leave Auto checked to have OCTO Ops generate the ID, or clear it to type your own. |
| Name of the contract | No | A name to identify the contract by. |
| Customer | Yes | The customer the contract is with. |
| Start date | Yes | When the contract begins. |
| End date | No | When the contract ends. |
| Value | No | The contract's value. |
| Risk | No | A risk rating. Defaults to 3 if left unset. |
| Description | No | Free text. |
What happens when you save: the contract is created and you're taken to its record page, with the toast "Contract created successfully". If a required field is missing, OCTO Ops shows the toast "Check your records before submitting this form again." with the problem fields marked inline, and nothing is saved. Any other failure shows an error dialog with the same message.
View a customer contract
Selecting a contract's Name from the list opens its record page, showing the details you entered when creating it.
An Edit icon appears on a contract's record page, but it does not open anything in this version — there is no edit screen for customer contracts.
Current limitations
- A customer contract cannot be edited after it's created — the Edit icon on the record page is not connected to a working screen.
- There is no delete option for customer contracts.
- There is no print, import, or export for customer contracts.
