Communications is the Announcements board — a way to post organization-wide notices with a date, location and description.
Before you start
You need a signed-in OCTO Ops account with a verified email address, an active membership in the organization, and the Communications module enabled. Communications is not governed by permission groups — any member with the module enabled can create and view announcements.
The Announcements list
Open Communications > Announcements from the main navigation.
| Column | Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | The announcement's name. Links to its record. |
| Date | The announcement's date. |
| Location | Where it applies. |
| Featured | Yes or No, centered. |
The list is sorted by Name, descending. Use the create icon in the toolbar to post a new announcement. There are no filters and no export buttons.
Post an announcement
- Open Communications > Announcements.
- Select the create icon.
- Fill in the fields below.
- Select Save.
| Field | Required | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | The announcement's name. |
| Date | No | The date it applies to. |
| Location | No | Where it applies. |
| Featured | No | Check to mark the announcement featured. |
| Description | No | The announcement text. |
What happens when you save: the announcement is created and you're taken to its record page, with the toast "Announcement created successfully". If Name is missing, OCTO Ops shows the toast "Check your records before submitting this form again." with the problem field marked inline, and nothing is saved. Any other failure shows an error dialog with the same message.
View an announcement
Selecting an announcement's Name from the list opens its record page, showing the details you entered when posting it.
Current limitations
- There is no way to edit or delete an announcement from the Announcements list.
- There is no print, import, or export for announcements.
- Announcements is the only working screen in Communications — there is no separate generic messaging or thread screen elsewhere in the module.
