Overview

Understand the Asset Management dashboard and what its totals represent.

On this page 3

The Asset Management overview is the module dashboard. It gives a quick picture of the individually tracked asset register before you open detailed records or reports.

Dashboard information

The page shows:

  • the total number of individually tracked asset records;
  • asset counts grouped by current status;
  • asset counts grouped by current location;
  • asset counts grouped by category;
  • the number of configured locations; and
  • the number of configured asset categories.

Status indicators help distinguish healthy, active, attention-required, and end-of-life states. Use the full Status Management page to understand each state and what can change it.

Review the dashboard

  1. Open Asset Management from the OCTO Ops main navigation.
  2. Select Overview.
  3. Review the headline total to confirm the expected number of individually tracked records.
  4. Check the status breakdown for damaged, under-repair, lost, or other records that may need attention.
  5. Check location and category distributions for unexpected or uncategorized concentrations.
  6. Open Asset Registry or the relevant operational submodule when further action is needed.
Important

The dashboard counts individual Asset records. A bulk group stores only a quantity and therefore is not added to the headline asset total or the per-status, per-location, and per-category Asset record charts. Per-unit groups do create individual records and are included.

When to use Reports instead

The dashboard is a current snapshot. Use Asset Reports when you need filters, exports, audit findings, utilization, movement history, acquisition values, depreciation estimates, disposal history, or department cost analysis.
